blogging confidence

finding your blogging confidence

So, one of the things I ask my new newsletter subscribers is “What is one thing that’s stopping you from following your dreams and reaching the success that you deserve?” I love asking this because it helps me see what I can do to help them out through products, services, and blog content.

One of the latest answers to this question was the lack of confidence. When I read that response, I absolutely knew how she felt. I think we all did at some point. When you’re just starting to develop content that you’re putting your all into it can be really scary, right? You probably sat behind your computer thinking, Well what if no one likes this post?  or What if my thoughts / opinions aren’t good enough?

We all experience this, and since there’s not a lot about it in the blogging world, I wanted to share some tips on finding your blogging confidence with everyone.

Write for yourself This may seem a little strange since everyone always says “find your target audience and write for them”. I absolutely agree with this, but one of the first steps in finding blogging confidence is writing for you. Remember when you were in college and dyed your hair or changed your major and didn’t give it a second thought because you didn’t care what others’ thought? Well, to some extent that’s how you can approach blogging. Write what you like, what you believe in, and don’t think about if other people will like it. Even if your current readers don’t like it or don’t relate, someone out there will. By writing for yourself, you’ll start to believe in your content because you like it.

Don’t reinvent the wheel ( or try to ) This may also seem taboo since everyone talks about sharing original content only. When you’re starting a blog or working on transforming your blog into a different niche, it can be really hard to come up with unique content that little to no one has talked about before. Instead of spending weeks ( or months ) at a time trying to come up with the perfect, original content for your blog, work on creating posts that you feel are proud of and will resonate with your readers.

Above all, be yourself This may relate to the first tip, but it really deserves it’s own space. Be yourself. The blogging world is literally packed with thousands of blogs – really great ones and terrible ones. However, you’ll never stand out or gain ground if you’re just copying what other blogs do. Instead, be yourself. Write about things you love and are passionate about, and people will like what you have to share and follow your blog because they like you and your take on things.

It may still be hard to develop confidence, but as time goes on you’ll begin to feel good about your blog and you’ll be more confident before you know.

My question for y’all – I want to know what’s  stopping you from following your dreams and reaching the success that you deserve?
