It’s been a while since I talked about anything health related here on the blog, hasn’t it? Last summer I shared all kinds of stuff as I was going through a diet + workout program, but honestly I fell off. Two weeks before it was over. Since then I’ve been interested in trying a raw diet. A gal pal of mine that I went to school with eats raw, and it’s really inspiring. Every time I see one of her food pictures on Instagram I get the urge to try it myself, so I finally am.
I thought I would give some back story, though, as to why I’m doing this. For almost three years now I’ve been dealing with strange stomach problems. They basically came out of nowhere my sophomore year of college and were really bad at the time. Awful bloating ( which my dr said was causing back pain I had at the time ) and no appetite whatsoever. Since then they’ve gotten better; however, I do still have bad days of severe cramps.
We’ve cleaned up our diets significantly since my sophomore year. In the last month we’ve began to have smoothies for lunch, replaced ground turkey for ground beef, and tried getting the healthier options when we can. However, I’ve still been wondering if a raw diet would help reset my body and fend off the problems that I still have.
So, here we are! For the next five days ( including today ) I’ll be consuming nothing but raw food – think uncooked and unprocessed. I’m challenging myself to do the full raw with no uncooked food; however, I’m not going to get down on myself if Saturday evening I need something else. In fact, I’ve already got a super clean pasta dish that I’d be interested in trying
I wanted to share this with y’all because I know some of y’all might have tried this yourself or might have the same issues I do. If you have tried a raw diet, I’d love to hear how it went for you!
