Happy Friday, friends! I can’t believe that the first full week of June is already over. Although summer hasn’t technically started I’ve already got big plans for my reading list. Now that I’m officially done with school, I can finally get around to all those books I’ve had on my ‘to-read’ list for the past five months. I figured I’d share my top three life / business type books with y’all today –
The Fire Starter Sessions I first heard of Danielle LaPorte when everyone started gushing over her book The Desire Map, and I have to admit that I was definitely intrigued. It didn’t take long for me to give in and I grabbed TDM first. I read around sixty pages before school ( and life ) took over. However, on a bookstore trip with D looking for a different book altogether, I stumbled upon TFSS. I knew that the idea behind TDM came from part of the Fire Starter book, so I didn’t want to pass it up. ( Also because I had actually found it in store, since TDM was nowhere to be seen in store a few months ago! )
Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook Online marketing is something that truly takes time to learn. In fact, marketing yourself through social media is basically nothing but trial and error since something that works for someone else might not for you as well. Although I had done a bit of social media marketing research, I had never heard of this book until Elise of Hey, Sweet Pea recommended it in their social media class. Initially I passed, since I knew I was too busy finishing my senior year to try reading this. However, just a week before D left we found this at a used bookstore and the price was a steal, so I had to grab it.
The Desire Map As I mentioned above, I grabbed this book several months ago, and I actually got around sixty pages in. I loved the premise of the book though, and I’m eager to get started on it again after I finish The Fire Starter book. This book has been a big deal to many of my fellow entrepreneurs, so I’m looking forward to seeing its impact on me!
In case you’re wondering about the non-life / business style books I’m grabbing this summer – I’m halfway through with The Carrie Diaries ( after falling in love with the first season on Netflix, I had to read the book ), Three To Get Deadly ( I’m in LOVE with the Stephanie Plum series ), The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo ( I never saw the movie because I wanted to read the book first but never read the book, it’s about time I do ), and Divergent ( also, want to read book prior to seeing movie ).
Do you do a lot of reading over summer? If so, what’s on your summer reading list this year?
