I can’t remember how long ago one, maybe two years I discovered Project Life and instantly fell in love. I’ve loved the idea of scrapbooking since the days of creating little collages or scrapbook pages for my binder covers in elementary and middle school. I’ve always said that I would start one when things actually started picking up for us – you know like maybe when we have a kid – because I never felt like our life was that interesting to warrant our own Project Life book.
Well, that was until the end of May. I all the sudden noticed that I was following quite a few lovely women who had their own books, and in a day or two I decided that I wanted to go for it as well! I ran out to a Hobby Lobby and two different Michaels stores before I ended up back home with a wide variety of things and excitement about a new hobby.
I know a lot of people try to do weekly spreads, but honestly, our weeks pretty much look exactly the same. Since we’re living a pretty simple life, I decided that I’d just create spreads for big things going on for us (like moving into the house, above, or adding little Zoey to our family, below). I even have a page towards the beginning for the day we got engaged, featuring the three pieces in the first photo!
I talked a little last year about the importance of having a hobby or two outside of working for yourself, and I still agree with everything I said. I love throwing, but that went away when I graduated, which left me looking for something to do when I wasn’t working. I really love reading and playing with Zoey, but I think it’s good to have something creative to kind of keep your mind working while it’s not.. you know, working.
Anyway, if nothing else, I think it’ll be incredible to look back at what we talked about in our Project Life book when the year is over or even in a few years.
Do any of you also do Project Life? Any tips for a newbie like me?
