Let’s be real, this has totally been talked about before, y’all. However, when I read those posts, I thought I had all the community I needed, until I didn’t. A few weeks ago one of my favorite people ever came to Nashville with this super rad group. It was that night that I talked to several different people ( one being this cool dude ) about different things – design, life goals, and more. While on our way home, it hit me: this is just what I’ve been needing.
As a student, it’s super obvious that I’m surrounded by like-minded people. As a freelancer, though, that’s not quite the case. In fact, most of us are located all over the country, away from like-minded people with similar goals and views. That makes things tough, right? Who do we turn to when we need an opinion on a design? Or where do we turn for inspiration? While some people are lucky enough to work in a studio of creatives, most of us have to turn to the internet to find those connections and conversations, and if I’m honest it’s just not the same.
There’s something special about being able to grab a coffee or lunch and chat, face-to-face, with people who inspire you or downright challenge you to be better and do more. I know that special feeling you can get from that kind of chat is precisely why conferences are blowing up right now, but we can’t all get to these either.
So now, after realizing that heart-pounding, ever inspired feeling from chatting with those creative peeps a few weeks ago, I’m determined to meet more people and keep that community going for myself, and I want to encourage y’all to do the same. Whether it be through a Skype lunch date or an in person coffee date, I hope you find yourself meeting and connecting with people in a more personal way that ends up leaving you feeling more inspired than ever before!
P.s. With all that being said, if you’re in or traveling to the middle Tennessee area, please let me know! I’d love to set something up with you!
